Live the Good Life Katie!
Time for Me to sign off, and hand the updates over to Amy, Katie's new Mom!
Katie girl, you have touched the lives of many people these last 2 months, from the Animal Control officer in Kansas, to the vet techs that cared for you when you had your surgery,and to Sally Mayes, the one who rescued you and put you in our care.
You are now settling into your furever home, where the love and devotion is coming back to you, your days will never be lonley, and fear will only be a distant memory.
We love you, and Miss you too, maybe we can visit one day.

You are one of the sweetest English Setters I have ever known,...Your eagerness to catch up on some lost lovin was intense, as it was sincere.
You were our very first Setter to let go of an honest to goodness "ROO"! The first time I heard you "RROOO" at me , I laughed out loud, knowing that your spirit was once again beginning to soar! I turned to look at you sitting on the kitchen step, and you were "smiling" as well!

My Friend Angel
I wanted to take this chance to thank Angel, for all the support she gave me while I stayed with her,.... she never growled at me once! Even when I jumped up on the couch and layed next to Fostermom,... or stold her chewies and hid them in the laundry pile!
She even played with me when she didn't want to!

My New Family
This is my new family,.....
Garth, is the Boss, and
Della, is the nice German Shepard lady,
and Aunt "Lacey" is the collie.
I don't have a picture yet of Misty, my little English Setter sister, but Amy, my new mom said she will send one.
We have horses around here somewhere,......haven't seen them yet,....
Oh, and I almosrt forgot, I have a skin brother as well, his name is Zachery, he's really nice, he lets me sleep with him at night!

Here we go up the steps,... I hear barking,... oh gosh look how BIG that guy is,...he must be the doberman dude, Oh there is Misty, she's looking out the window,... here comes Dad, he is smiling big,....at me!, so I go up to him and sit down, he really likes that!
Oh Katie,...," Hi there, we have been waiting for you!!....I smile!! rrroooorororo!! Hi Mom!
We go inside ,and a real nice German Shepard comes up to say HI, and welcome home Katie."....Aunt Collie is right behind her to say ,"Hello"
Everyone is talking and laughing,...I'm shedding!
Amy, says, we should go outside and meet "The Boss",....a conference is held on just how we should go about this,.....I'm sheeding still,...
Fostermom thinks that Mom and Dad should go out with Boss, and then she will bring me out,....
Here we go,...oh my,... he is BIG,..I decide to sit down,....here comes Misty,she wants to play,....not now girl,...
Big Guy is alright,..very polite,... I tell him he is nice,...he smiles at me and sits next to me. Mom and Dad are standing with us,......

A Beautiful Day for A Drive
Here we are again, driving down the Highway.
Fostermom and Stephanie are having one of those heavy "life" conversations,...???? that's what Angel said anyway!
What the heck is a "heavy life" conversation?...interesting,....I think I will sneak between the seats and lay my head on the arm rest, pretend I am sleeping,...and listen to what they are saying!

A Pair To Draw To
Two Beautiful Setter Girls
One Last Memory....
Thought I would catch one last wiff of a place that I will never forget!
You know how we Setters are about the way some scents fill our memory banks!
It was very nice here, nice and quiet usually, squirrels EVERYWHERE, nice cool grass to lay in,....just me and Angel. When I first came here I didn't like being outside very long at all, especially if my human friends went inside. I barked until they came and took me in! Lucky for me I didn't have to bark very long!
Ready to Go Home
Fostermom got the plastic box to spit out the paper finally and we are headed out the front door. Angel and I have our leashes on, but I don't think we are going for a walk?
My friend that shares his cereal with me is kinda sad, I think. He keeps patting me on the head, and says, He's gonna ,miss me?

Guess What??
Hi Everyone,
It's me, Katie!
Fostermom is kinda busy right now, so I thought I woulds sneak in and type you all a note,.....somewhere on a websight, or a picture abulm, or somewhere like that, I saw this really good looking blue belton boy, that was sitting at his mom's computer, just a typing away, and sipping some iced tea at the same time!!..through a straw even, wow, my kinda guy!!

Anyway, remember I told you I heard my name mentioned on the phone?..well, guess what???
I,. ME, ..MISS KATIE KAKES,... has a new home!!!! RRRRoooRRooRROO!!!
I have a little sister English Setter, who is 6 months old, with spots galore!,then a white Collie Aunt, a German Shepard Big sister, and a really BIG Doberman Dude who is about 9 or so, He is/was a service dog to my new Dad, when he wasn't feeling very good one time and needed "Big Boy's help", he doesn't need his help anymore but, Dobe Dude seems to think he does,... so that makes him "Boss"!!!.
whatever,...he's nice to me, I'm Glad!
A Quiet Day at the Dog Park
These Days are always nice too, just me and Angel,..and those darn bugs that hop,...and hop,..until ya just HAVE to chase them!!
Today the Phone rang, and I heard my name being mentioned, so I quietly got off of the couch and walked over and sat next to my friend, Steven, he lives here too, but he doesn't have any fur,...But he does share his cereal in the morning,(nice guy!)...Anyway, I really wanted to try to hear what foster mom was saying about me. It made me nervous, thinking that I may have done something wrong, and was going to have to leave,.....
Fostermom was telling someone all about me, and made me remember where I came from , before I met all these nice people,...But she was smiling when she said my name,...hhmmm? I wonder.
the next day we all got in the car and went for a ride and met these other two very nice people, who had a dog just like me! She was white,with spots and everything,...She was even shy like me too! We walked over to a grassy area and we got to play a lot! They talked to me, and touched me, and took me for a short walk around the trees. I kept looking at Fostermom, making sure she was still there,.....And she was. Which was great, cause then I got to play with Misty again!
Then time to say good bye , and we jumped back in our cars, and went home,....I wonder what that was all about??
Being a dog, isn't all what it's cracked up to be sometimes,...
Ya know, all this dog stuff wears me out! Is it nap time yet?
So Far So Good
So Far So Good! As you can see I have been learning to relax and enjoy the dog things in life!! Like digging! My foster mom smiles at me and asks, " What did you find in there, Katie?" HHMMM?I can't help but smile, and admit," Well nothing really, but it sure is fun!"

A Dog Park??

Well as you can see, I am having a great time here in Iowa! We have been going to the dog park, and meeting all kinds of other dogs. At first I was kinda scared, and I rolled over on my back, so those dogs wouldn't try to be mean to me...They looked at me real funny, and wondered why I was so scared,...I guess I have never been around that many dogs, at one time who have always had a nice warm place to call home,.....Usually that number of dogs means trouble. YIKES!

I don't how to thank all of you that have worked so hard to save me, and many of my setter friends. I do know there are a lot of you,.... and then again there are alot of Us too!

First Notice...
On September 21st , this precious girl was pulled from Junction City,KS Animal Control, by one Setter Angel, named Sally,..... she has rescued more that one A & B setter in the past, her generosity of time and funding goes unmatched.
Katie was then taken to the vet and given the once over, that's all she needed, she appears to be in excellent health, and is about as sweet as they come!
Katie will be evauluated in the next two weeks and her personality traits will be posted on the Above and Beyond website at www.esrescue.org
